Dental plaque or bacterial plaque is a layer in which microbes, bacteria and microorganisms accumulate on the surface of the teeth and gums, as well as small remains of food. It is not visible to the naked eye unless it is stained with a yellowish film. After each meal, this dental plaque adheres to the teeth and with the remains of food, but it is eliminated with the correct brushing of the teeth. If it builds up and calcifies, it forms tartar . These bacteria grow thanks to the remains of food that accumulate and saliva. Over time, if not removed, it causes oral diseases such as tooth decay, gum disease, or gingivitis. Therefore, children and adults should brush their teeth well after each meal, a minimum of 2 minutes , the use of dental floss and rinses can also help fight dental plaque or bacterial plaque.
